Rione Monti is one of Rome’s oldest districts. The original part of the city is made up of the 7 historical hills: AVENTINE, PALATINE, CAPITOLINE, QUIRINAL, VIMINAL, ESQUILINE and CAELIAN. 7 were also the Kings of Rome: the first king of Rome was Romulus, 753-717 BC, followed by Numa Pompilius, Tullus Hostilius, Ancus Martius, Tarquinius Priscus, Servius Tullius and Tarquinius the Superb.
