The symbol of this ancient city used to be the Eagle; today the emblem of Rome is the Capitoline She-Wolf. The city of Rome is also called: Caput Mundi, Urbe and the Eternal City. If you happen to see the letters SPQR, it’s an acronym used in Latin epigraphs to indicate the people of Rome, perhaps originally SENATVS POPULVSQVE ROMANVS.
